Duck Hunting

IMG_4537.jpg

DeClue's River Bottom Farm offers some of the finest waterfowl hunting in Missouri. Flooded agricultural fields, and classic midwest riverbottoms make for excellent waterfowl habitat and fast flying hunting opportunities.

Northeast Missouri is home to a large percentage of the states migrating waterfowl. Hunting the Mississippi flyway, you can expect to shoot Mallards, Wood Ducks, Teal, Gadwall, Widgeon, Pintail, and Shovelers. Later in the season Canada Geese and occasionally divers. Due to our private location, we don't have competition with our waterfowl hunting.

We plant corn, japanese millet, and buckwheat in order to enhance the waterfowl hunting.

Hunting blinds and pits are heated for your comfort, and when needed we hunt half days to ensure the birds keep returning to rest and feed on the duck lake. There will be one to two guides per waterfowl party.

November we hunt the morning and let the birds settle back into the duck lake in the afternoon.

andy.jpgWe also give the waterfowl in November rest days mid week and hunt the weekends to allow us to hold more birds. By doing this we have to charge a higher price to cover the rest days. In December we run bubblers when the weather falls below freezing and hunt from heated pit blinds. That time of year we see alot of canada geese and late mallards trading from Mark Twain Lake , Long Branch Lake, Thomas Hill Lake and the Mississippi River.245_full.jpg
